Foods, dance, music, traditions and more
Honduras is a country of many cultures and people. It is located in South America but shares the Carribean sea. It can be considered a Carribean country. One of their traditional dishes is something called a baleada; A flour tortilla with mashed fried beans with cheese and cream and avocado. Those are just the basics though. You can add eggs and whatever you desire. Aside from that sweet plantain or green plantain with fried chicken with cabbage and diced tomato along with onion and ketchup and mayo sauce is another popular dish. "Pollo con Tajadas" or simply the famous rice and beans is a desired dish. All Honduran dishes descended from African and South American land resources. All foods started because of the African people. (Sherpa1) "Garifuna food and drink make use of a combination of native Central American crops and African staples, including fish, chicken, cassava, bananas, and plantains.

Dance and Music
Drums play a huge role in Honduran culture. It actually is the main and most important instrument. Well, you could say that. Punta is one of the most traditional dances and forms of music not only in Honduras but anywhere that Garifuna people reside. It is literally only beats consisting of drums. That's it. (Cashion3) punta allows dancers to interact with the drums as couples or individuals who try to outdo each other with shaking hips and buttocks. In its ritual aspect, punta is a ceremony for the dead, a celebratory send-off to a better life in the next world. A poignant moment in the dance occurs when a dancer shuffles through the sand in the direction of the Atlantic Ocean and Africa and leaves two markers for the path the spirit must follow to return home to its ancestors. Honduras is diverse so there are redheads, black people and the Indians from indigenous ancestry. Regardless of color, Honduras all gather round to dance punta.

Garifuna People
Where did they come from?
As you know already, probably, Garifuna people are the descended African people who ended up in Honduras after the TRans Atlantic Slave-Trade. (kwekudee1) Afro-Hondurans are Hondurans of African descent. They are estimated to be a population of approximately 350,000, or 5% of the country. Some Afro-Honduran might be classed as mestizo. (Eharding3) During the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade more Africans meant for slavery went to Central and South America, then the United States, therefore there are more people of African descent throughout Latin America than the USA.
